These are the standards every story on The Tech Shots is held to, whoever writes it and however it was researched.
Accuracy
- We verify facts with primary sources wherever possible: company announcements, regulatory filings, official data and on-the-record interviews.
- When we rely on another publication's reporting, we say so and link to it.
- Prices are given in Indian rupees with their basis (launch price, ex-showroom or on-road) and the date we checked them.
- Specifications come from the manufacturer unless we measured them ourselves, and we say which.
- Every article lists its sources at the end.
From idea to publication
- A writer researches and drafts the story. Our research desk may use AI tools to find and summarise public sources; see how we use AI.
- An editor checks names, numbers, dates, prices and quotes against the cited sources, and asks for changes.
- Only an editor can publish. Nothing on this site is published automatically.
Independence
- Advertisers, sponsors and the companies we cover do not influence our coverage or our verdicts.
- Sponsored content is labelled "Sponsored", is kept separate from editorial and never carries a review score.
- We do not accept payment for coverage.
Reviews
- Review units may be loaned or given by manufacturers. That never guarantees coverage or a positive verdict.
- Each review says how long we tested the product, and what we measured ourselves versus what the brand claims.
- Scores reflect the product at the price it sold for when we reviewed it.
Opinion and analysis
Opinion pieces are labelled and reflect the author's view, not the publication's.
Leaks and rumours
We do not publish rumours as fact. Leaks are reported only when we have good reason to believe they are accurate, and we say how confident we are and where the information came from.
Sources and fairness
We protect confidential sources. Anonymous sourcing is used only when the information is important and cannot be obtained on the record, and needs an editor's approval. When a story makes a significant claim about a person or company, we give them a fair chance to respond.
Conflicts of interest
Staff do not accept gifts beyond nominal value and disclose any conflict of interest to their editor. Writers do not cover companies in which they hold a material financial interest.
Corrections
We fix mistakes openly; see our corrections policy.
