We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we fix it promptly and say so.

How we correct

  • Corrections: when we publish a factual error, such as a wrong price, specification, date or name, we fix the article and add a dated correction at the end saying what changed.
  • Clarifications: when an article was accurate but could be misread, we add a dated clarification.
  • Updates: when a story develops, for example a launch date moves or a price changes, we update it and show the time of the update under the headline.
  • We do not quietly change the substance of an article. Typing and formatting fixes may be made without a note.
  • If a whole story turns out to be wrong, we say so prominently rather than deleting it, unless there is a legal reason to remove it.

How to report an error

Use the correction form on our contact page and include the article link and what you believe is wrong. Every article also has a "Report an error" link at the end. An editor reviews every report.

Complaints

If your complaint is about the content of an article rather than a factual error, or you are not satisfied with our response, you can raise a grievance under the IT Rules, 2021; see grievance redressal.
